We created this blog to share what it’s like to be a nurse in the Norton Sound region. You can read more about our corporation by visiting the NSHC website, but our aim is to show you some of the perks of living and working in northwest Alaska, specifically as a nurse.
We will also be posting reports from the NSHC Nursing Department, introductions to some of our staff, information on how to apply to NSHC, and details on why you should consider our region for your next career stop!
NSHC is based in Nome, Alaska, with the Norton Sound Regional Hospital. Fifteen clinics are staffed in regional villages surrounding Nome.
Our neighbors are the musk oxen, moose, caribou and grizzly bears. We enjoy bounties of fresh salmon, king crab and halibut. Occasionally, we feast on more the more traditional fare of the local Alaska Natives, including bowhead or beluga whale and bearded seal.
We hike, swim, run, bike, ski, paddle, sled, snowshoe, and enjoy the outdoors to the fullest.
Follow along with us as we take you on a tour of work and play in the Norton Sound.
